This is a personal site about mental health, written by someone with lived experience, not a clinician. Here's how I try to make it safe and trustworthy.
Not medical advice
Everything here is my experience and my opinion. It is not a diagnosis, treatment, or a replacement for a doctor, psychologist, pharmacist or crisis line. Never stop or change a medication because of something you read here. Talk to the person who prescribed it.
How I write about suicide
I follow the safe-messaging guidance from the World Health Organization and IASP (2023 media resource), the Canadian Psychiatric Association, Mindframe, #chatsafe and Québec's AQPS. That means: no methods or details, no glamorising, always a way to get help, and stories that show people come through it. Posts that touch on suicide carry a note at the top and crisis lines on the page.
How I write about drugs
No doses, no how-to, no glamour. Withdrawal can be dangerous, especially from opioids, alcohol and benzodiazepines, so I always say get medical help. When I talk about other people, I use non-stigmatising language (person who uses drugs, substance use disorder), following NIDA and the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction. About myself, I say what feels true.
Language
My diagnosis is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and that's the term I use for it. Some people prefer autistic, others person with autism. Use whatever fits you.
Sources
I link to health agencies, clinical guidelines, research, and organisations run by people with lived experience. I avoid content farms, supplement sellers and rehab lead-generators. If research disagrees with my experience, I say so. Crisis numbers are checked against official sources and dated.
Affiliate links
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Links in the library and in some posts are affiliate links (marked, and tagged `rel="sponsored"`). They cost you nothing extra. I never put affiliate links in posts about suicide or in crisis content.
Privacy (Québec Law 25)
This prototype sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. Your theme and calm-mode choices are stored only in your own browser. If analytics or a newsletter are added later, they'll be opt-in, and this page will say exactly what is collected and why.
Accessibility
Fonts chosen for legibility (Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed for low-vision readers), dark mode, a calm mode that turns off animation, content notes, plain language, and no autoplaying anything. Built with the W3C guidance on making content usable for people with cognitive and learning disabilities in mind.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, especially a phone number, tell me. I fix crisis information the same day.
